Action Against Medical Accidents
www.avma.org.uk
This is an interesting organization, based in the U.K. and composed of a coalition of patients, families, physicians, lawyers, social workers, indeed anyone who is interested in promoting “patient safety and justice”. Other countries (especially Canada) could learn from AvMA and its underlying values of honesty, transparency, support and justice.
Pari Center for New Learning
www.paricenter.com
The Pari Center for New Learning was created by F. David Peat and Maureen Doolan to encourage new ways to understand and think about the world. David Peat’s background in quantum physics led him to search for understanding in the face of uncertainty (initially revealed in quantum mechanics!) in many aspects of human activity. The Center offers courses, seminars, workshops, publishes books and acts as a sort of sanctuary for Thinking differently. The location in a hillside village in Tuscany is the perfect setting to encourage the suspension of our usual linear ways of looking at life.
